What is MyDataKey?
MyDataKey is a free app that helps you document your data ownership and set privacy preferences. Create a certificate that proves your data is yours--like a deed for your digital life.
Is MyDataKey really free?
Yes, 100% free. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no hidden fees. All features are available to everyone. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit--our mission is helping you own your data, not monetizing it.
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally on your device. We never upload, collect, or store your personal information on any server. Your certificate, claims, and preferences stay on your phone.
What are Privacy Postures?
Privacy postures let you declare how you want your data to be used. Choose from ALLOW, LIMIT, RESTRICT, or BLOCK for categories like AI training, data sales, profiling, and third-party sharing.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Go to Settings → Delete Account. This will permanently remove all data from your device. Since we don't store anything on our servers, there's nothing to delete on our end.

View your ownership certificate with all your claims and postures. Share it or download it as a PDF to keep a permanent record.
Opt-Out Hub
Quick links to opt out of 750+ data brokers, AI training programs, and advertising networks. Take action to protect your data.
Settings
Manage your account, view privacy policy and terms, or delete all your data. Your certificate data stays on your device.
📥 Download Your Certificate
Tap "Download PDF" on the Certificate tab to save your ownership certificate. You can share it, print it, or keep it as documentation of your data ownership claims.
Troubleshooting
App not loading?
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall from the App Store. Your data is stored locally, so a reinstall will start fresh.
Certificate not showing?
Make sure you've completed the signup process with your name and email. Your certificate is generated after you finish onboarding.
PDF not downloading?
Ensure you have enough storage space on your device. The PDF is generated locally and requires a small amount of free space. Try closing other apps if needed.
Opt-out links not working?
Some websites may have changed their URLs or processes. Try searching for the company's privacy page directly. We update our links regularly.
App looks wrong on iPad?
Make sure you have the latest version of the app. We've optimized the layout for all screen sizes including iPad.
